Welcome to NCI St Donat's Bay Living History
The idea of establishing a National Coastwatch watch station at St Donat's Bay on the South Wales coast, overlooking the Bristol Channel was first discussed in October 2019 as part of the Sea Front development project at Atlantic College. Since then, discussions and site visits took place between the National Coastwatch and the college with approval for the project being agreed by both groups in Spring 2020. Atlantic College kindly agreed to completely renovate the two existing towers along the sea wall with one to be used as a fully operational National Coastwatch lookout and the other to be used as a training facility. The first training watches commenced in May 2021 and the station is currently operating in training mode, working towards being a declared Coastguard search and rescue asset.
